PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Instructional Coach - Assist teachers and empower them to utilize their skills and abilities to maximize their teacher effectiveness. This will be done through demonstration lessons, observation of teachers, reflective sessions, professional development and other methods to increase teacher effectiveness and leadership that leads to student growth and achievement.
Interventionist - Work with small groups of children identified as at-risk in assigned core subjects. Work closely with campus administration and faculty, as well as parents, to ensure student learning and academic success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction or educational leadership preferred
- Texas teacher certificate in appropriate area
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient understanding of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
- Ability to assess teaching practices and provide information in a way that is strength based.
- Ability to model teach in a wide range of grade levels and subject areas
- Ability to provide professional development training individually, in small and large groups

Experience:
- At least five years experience as a classroom teacher
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Coach:
- Support teachers achievement of goals by using coaching strategies to implement instructional practices (such as, co-planning, modeling, co-teaching as needed or per superintendent’s instruction, lesson development, observing, etc.)
- Facilitate teacher’s understanding and implementation of curriculum and effective instructional practices.
- Develop a teacher's capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of data to improve student learning.
- Foster collaboration and teacher development and leadership.
- Create positive peer interactions and coordinate activities to increase teacher collaboration.
- Coordinate Instructional Focus Team Meetings.
- Identify, organize and plan professional development.
- Attend professional development meetings and trainings.
- Identify needs, develop programs and provide staff development to increase teacher effectiveness (in small and large groups).
- Analyze lesson plans for alignment to standards and quality lesson design. Monitor lesson plans in advance.
- Track student and teacher progress to assess the effectiveness of teacher coaching.
- Assist and ensure that student intervention instruction is implemented with fidelity.
- Provide clear and direct feedback to teachers based on analysis of practices.
- Identify and mentor teachers in order to develop teacher instructional leadership.
- Create detailed coaching plans with focused goals and measures of success.
- Locate and apply for funding opportunities for new programs.
- Assist with the alignment and development of assigned PK-12 curriculum based upon continuing systematic review and analysis.
- Facilitate and provide assistance with the alignment of campus and district curriculum.
- Provide instruction at the campus level to improve identified areas of need; including model teaching and one-on-one instruction with students.
- Collaborate with instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs.
- Assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs with teachers and principals, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
- Apply research and data to improve the content, sequence, and outcomes of the teaching-learning process.
- Participate in the district-level decision-making process to establish and review the district’s goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs of the district.
- Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
- Assist in securing consultants, specialists, and other community resources to assist principals and instructional staff in attaining objectives.
- Assist in providing effective staff development activities that incorporate the mission of the district, program evaluation outcomes, and input from teachers and others.
- Assist in the implementation of policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in curriculum and instruction area.
- Compile, maintain, and present all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Review and analyze data, including student achievement data, to examine instructional program effectiveness.
- Model behaviors, which insure the development of a district team, focused on problem solving and meeting student needs.
- Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and the campus performance objectives.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serve as role model for all district staff.
- Actively seek training and information, which will enhance skills and knowledge, related to responsibilities.
Reading Interventionist:
- Assess children throughout the school and identify children at risk.
- Design and implement academic interventions using research-based methodology.
- Communicate with school personnel and parents of children regarding reading and/or math level and rate of progress.
- Gather, compile, and disaggregate data; and link that data to student learning and instruction.
- Differentiate instruction based on assessment data.
- Document interventions and progress on each child.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
- Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Project Manager:
The Project Manager will be the primary point of contact and LEA lead for all grant related activities. The LEA lead will be responsible for ensuring all assurances are met by the LEA, coordinates with the selected approved provider on a regular basis, attends any check-ins or webinars hosted by TEA, and communicates with TEA should the primary point of contact leave the LEA during the grant period.
