General Description. We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Learning & Development Intern to support our asphalt and construction operations. This role is ideal for a candidate with prior internship experience in training, instructional design, or workforce development, who is eager to apply their skills in a fast-paced environment. You will work on-site to assist in the creation, delivery, and evaluation of training programs for construction employees, contributing directly to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Key Duties.
- Shadow and support trainers in delivering on-the-job (OJT) and classroom-style training sessions for new hires and upskilling programs.
- Help coordinate training schedules, track attendance, and maintain training records.
- Observe and document workflow processes to identify gaps and recommend improvements to existing training content.
- Support the evaluation of training effectiveness through surveys, assessments, and feedback collection.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Safety, Quality, HR) to ensure training alignment with goals.
- Craft presentations for meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience. This is an internship.
- Students must be enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Education, Training, Instructional Design, or Workforce Development .
- Proficient PC skills including a proficiency in various software used such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity or an internship with construction industry practices a plus.
- Must be able to understand and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.
Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Learning and Development Intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Periodic physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to periodically stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
- Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 25 pounds personally and the ability to carry up to 15 pounds personally.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.
Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Learning and Development Intern encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Work is performed predominately indoors, although periodic visits to construction sites or asphalt manufacturing facilities may be required.
- Noise level in the typical office work environment is quiet.
