Job Description

The Director of Talent Development will play a key leadership role in advancing Hub Group’s talent strategy by designing and delivering impactful learning and development programs that enhance employee capabilities, strengthen leadership at all levels, and support a high-performance, growth-oriented culture. This role will lead a team responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of learning experiences that align with the company's strategic goals. This leader will work closely with business leaders, subject matter experts, and HR partners to identify capability gaps, drive skill development, and embed a culture of continuous learning across the organization. The Director will also oversee the performance and development of the Talent Development team, including Corporate Trainers, a Instructional Designer and an LMS Manager.

Essential Job Functions Learning Strategy & Program Design

  • Lead the development and implementation of enterprise-wide learning and development strategies, including onboarding, technical training, and professional development.
  • Translate business needs into learning priorities by identifying skill and capability gaps in partnership with senior leaders and HR.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of instructor-led, virtual, and digital learning solutions using internal resources and external partners.

Leadership Development

  • Build and continuously refine Hub Group’s leadership principles and framework to define expectations, behaviors, and competencies across all leadership levels.
  • Design and deliver tiered leadership development programs tailored to senior, mid-level, and frontline leaders.
  • Evaluate and partner with external vendors to enhance leadership offerings, including executive coaching, workshops, and assessments.
  • Champion the development of high-potential talent and successors through targeted experiences and stretch opportunities.

Training Operations & Delivery

  • Ensure effective execution of training programs across formats and audiences, including system/process training (e.g., Brokerage Work Bench, McLeod).
  • Maintain and improve user guides, learning content, and job aids in collaboration with the Instructional Designer and LMS Manager.
  • Establish clear learning objectives and continuously enhance content based on learner feedback and performance data.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Talent Development team, fostering professional growth and accountability.
  • Provide clear direction, prioritize initiatives, and model collaborative, solution-oriented leadership.
  • Support team members in delivering consistent, high-quality learning experiences across the organization.

Change Management & Culture Building

  • Drive adoption of change initiatives through effective learning interventions and stakeholder engagement.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and employee empowerment.
  • Create and execute communication strategies that promote learning programs and drive engagement.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of learning programs.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine learning strategies and report outcomes to business and HR leadership.
  • Ensure alignment of learning initiatives with performance management and employee engagement strategies.

Technology & Vendor Management

  • Oversee the learning management system (LMS), ensuring ease of use and alignment with learning goals.
  • Manage external vendors and partners to enhance program offerings and delivery capability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 7 years of progressive experience in talent development, learning and development, or organizational effectiveness.
  • 3 years of leadership experience managing teams and delivering enterprise-level learning programs.
  • Professional certifications such as CPTD, APTD.
  • Experience working in or supporting transportation, logistics, or supply chain industries is preferred.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and engage stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to executive audiences.
  • Deep knowledge of learning technologies, instructional design principles, and adult learning best practices.
  • Demonstrated success in project management, driving initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • A collaborative, strategic mindset with a track record of building high-impact development programs.

Salary: $108,000 - $130,000/year base salary Bonus Eligibility

This is an estimated range based on the circumstances at the time of posting, however it may change based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, education, market factors, geographical location, budget, and demand.
