Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor and document vital signs, medical history updates, and treatment progress throughout patient visits.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively about treatment plans and oral health education.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and medical coding practices.
