SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY: This position involves no supervisory responsibility. NATURE AND SCOPE: Internal contacts include faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate peers. External contacts may include participants, community partners, or staff of the granting agency. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Assist the principal investigator and study team with a variety of research procedures and project activities. • Collect data, samples, or survey responses; assist with routine data cleaning and entry into research databases. • Maintain research records, update spreadsheets, and assist with generating summary tables and preliminary reports. • Support preparation of project materials, including presentations, meeting documents, handouts, and recruitment materials. • Assist in drafting or editing abstracts, posters, and manuscripts submitted for conferences or publication. • Help organize equipment, supplies, or participant materials; support set-up for study visits, focus groups, or data-collection sessions. • Input information into software systems including spreadsheets, databases, and presentation or publishing software. • Carry out clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, labeling, printing, organizing documents, and managing inventories of study supplies. • Attend project meetings, take notes, and support follow-up tasks as assigned. • Perform other related duties as assigned. CORE COMPETENCIES: • Basic knowledge of research methods relevant to the assigned project area. • Ability to assist in writing short summaries, abstracts, or scientific descriptions. • Ability to perform basic data analysis and interpret preliminary results. • Ability to prepare progress updates and assist in delivering presentations. • Strong competence in written and oral English to communicate clearly and professionally. • Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and research participants. • Strong organizational skills, reliability, and attention to detail. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Completed coursework or demonstrated interest in a scientific, public health, social science, or education-related discipline aligned with the research project. Prior research, administrative, or community service experience preferred but not required. Proficiency with standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
