Role Description The Low Voltage Field Technician (AV & Lighting) is a full-time, on-site role based in Delray Beach, FL. This role involves installing, configuring, and servicing low voltage systems, including audio/video equipment, lighting controls, home entertainment systems, and related wiring. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting technical diagrams, pulling and terminating cables, mounting and connecting devices, and performing system testing and troubleshooting. The technician will interact with clients on-site, ensure clean and professional installations, document work performed, and collaborate with team members to complete projects on schedule and to quality standards. The role may also involve occasional maintenance visits, upgrades, and support for existing installations.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of electricity and low voltage systems, including familiarity with electrical equipment.
- Experience with electrical maintenance and routine service of AV and lighting installations.
- Ability to perform effective troubleshooting of electrical and low voltage issues in the field.
- Understanding of basic electrical engineering concepts relevant to residential AV and lighting projects.
- Prior experience in AV installation, home automation, or related low voltage work is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Comfort working with hand and power tools, ladders, and in residential construction environments.
- Strong customer service skills and professional communication with clients and team members.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in and around Delray Beach, FL.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in low voltage or electrical fields are a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install and mount TVs, in-wall/in-ceiling speakers, and landscape speakers.
- Low Voltage Wiring: Run and pull Cat5e/Cat6, speaker wire, and lighting cable in both new construction (pre-wire) and retrofit (existing homes) settings.
- Termination: Terminate network cables (RJ45), speaker connections, and prep fiber optic cables for termination.
- Outdoor Systems: Install low-voltage landscape lighting fixtures and transformers.
- Physical Demands: Safely navigate attic spaces to run wires; lift and mount heavy equipment (large TVs up to [Insert Weight, e.g., 100lbs], amplifiers, and receivers).
- Safety: Strictly adhere to safety protocols when using ladders (extension and A-frame) and working in confined spaces.
- Tools: Proficient use of power tools, drill drivers, saws, and fish tapes; ability to read a tape measure and calculate wire pulls.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in low voltage or residential electrical installation.
- Ability to run wires in attics and crawl spaces comfortably.
- Knowledge of proper network termination standards (T568A/B).
- Fiber optic experience is a plus (terminating, splicing, or handling pre-terminated fiber).
- Must have your own reliable transportation to commute to our shop in Delray Beach.
- Clean Driving Record (required for company vehicle insurance purposes).
