Summary:Primarily responsible for providing new bid setup, issuance of bid documents, tracking subcontractor responses, keeping subcontractor data base up to date, bidding all divisions (1-33), keep estimating statistics, and pricing change orders.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Primarily responsible for estimating construction projects.

· Work with Operations to ensure a complete understanding of the scope of work.

· Schedule as necessary to develop a bid day schedule for the project.

· Prepare detailed reports or bids for submission to appropriate parties.

· Select advantageous deals by evaluating offers and quotes.

· Analyze data and produce forecasts.

· Perform risk analysis.

· Foster relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, architects, etc.).

Estimating:

· Review specifications and drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine and prepare scopes of work and required contents of various budgets, pre-con proposals and hard bids.

· Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to review and write scopes of work for all Construction Trades (Division 1-33)

· Working knowledge of the Design-Build process and has bid successfully design build government work.

· Thorough experience of Federal Government procurement methodology including hard bids, IDIQ and various task order type contracts.

· Prepare estimates by taking-off assigned scopes of work.

· Have thorough knowledge of Metro Washington DC subcontractors and has ability to work with subcontractors during bids.

· Ensure sufficient subcontractor coverage for every bid.

· Prepare bid general conditions and review with operations before bid submittal.

· Assist with pricing, change orders if required.

· Maintain and track bid results for those projects you propose on.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Proven experience as construction estimator.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Government Contracting experience.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Construction software knowledge.
  • Able to generate take-offs.
  • Ability to understand bid job instructions and detailed specifications.
  • Proficient with Excel and Word and project scheduling software.
  • Must be goal oriented and a self-starter.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.

Education and/or experience:

· 5 – 10 years progressively responsible experience in the construction industry in the estimating field.

· Experienced Estimator for government contracting and construction.

Qualification Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree preferred

· BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Management (or equivalent experience)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
