What are the responsibilities and job description for the PLC & Robot Programmers position at HSTech Only?
At HSTech we are seeking Controls & Automation Engineers (PLC & Robotics) to design, program, and commission advanced industrial automation systems, robotic cells, and high-speed material handling processes. In this role, you will work on cutting-edge projects for leading industries across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
YOUR RESPONSABILITIES:
- Controls & software development: Architect, debug, and deploy control logic for PLCs, HMIs, and industrial robots—from initial offline development through final Buy-Off and customer handover on the plant floor.
- Systems integration & material flow: Integrate robotic cells, vision systems, VFDs, and field devices with upper-level manufacturing systems (MES, SCADA, databases/OPC-UA) to ensure seamless traceability and high-availability material flow.
- Onsite commissioning: Perform hardware I/O checks, safety circuit validation (Safety PLCs, E-Stops, interlocks), sequence debugging, and cycle time optimization during line installation.
- Troubleshooting & production ramp-up: Diagnose and resolve complex root-cause hardware, software, and industrial network faults during launch phases, delivering clean engineering change documentation.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- B.S. in Mechatronics, Electrical, Automation Engineering (or equivalent technical degree) with 3 to 5 years of hands-on commissioning experience.
- PLC & standards expertise: proficiency in Siemens TIA Portal (V16–V18) / Step 7 and Rockwell Studio 5000 / ControlLogix / GuardLogix. Experience implementing OEM standards such as SICAR, VASS, or INTEGRA.
- Industrial robotics: On-line programming and Off-Line programming (OLP) simulation skills in Fanuc (RoboGuide/DCS), KUKA (WorkVisual/SafeOperation), or ABB (RobotStudio/SafeMove).
- Networks & visualization: Practical knowledge of Profinet, Ethernet/IP, and IO-Link protocols; HMI development in WinCC, FactoryTalk View, or Ignition; and integration of 2D/3D vision systems (Cognex, Keyence).
