Patients Account Specialist

HSI, a subsidiary of the North Dakota Hospital Association, is seeking motivated and service-oriented Patient Account Specialists to join our collections team. In this role, you will support North Dakota hospitals and healthcare organizations by helping patients resolve outstanding balances through professional, respectful, and solution-focused engagement.

What You’ll Do

• Work with patients to establish payment plans, verify account details, and resolve account questions.
• Document all interactions accurately and maintain compliance with HSI, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with the collections team to identify trends, improve processes, and support workflow efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in collections, customer service, medical billing, or a related field preferred (not required).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations confidently and professionally.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.
• Comfort navigating multiple systems and learning new software.
