HSBC’s Corporate and Institutional Banking (“CIB”) business provides tailored financial solutions across capital markets, advisory and commercial banking products to corporate and institutional clients worldwide. Within CIB, the Capital Markets & Advisory (“CMA”) division focuses on investment banking solutions, including mergers & acquisitions, leveraged credit, debt capital markets, strategic equity financing, structured finance and corporate finance advisory.
This is an Associate role on the US Corporate Finance Coverage team, which sits within the CMA division. Together with other CMA product teams, as well as Relationship Management teams, the US Corporate Finance Coverage team is responsible for originating and executing investment banking solutions to HSBC’s corporate clients, in order to help them achieve their strategic and financing objectives. The US Corporate Finance Coverage team also helps drive collaboration with emerging high growth startup clients in HSBC’s Innovation Banking division.

Responsibilities
You will work as a generalist, covering clients spanning a wide range of industries, size and stage of growth. Specific examples of primary responsibilities include:
- Supporting advisory and coverage for a broad range of clients
- Playing a lead role in:
- Developing financial analysis such as peer benchmarking, valuation, capital structure, capital allocation, shareholder & investor targeting, and ROIC analyses
- Identifying potential M&A targets and JV partners leveraging our international platform
- Preparation of presentations and other materials for clients
- Collaborating with product and relationship coverage teams
- Supporting the oversight, training and coaching of Analysts on the team
- Bachelors’ degree from a leading university and strong academic performance
- FINRA licenses (SIE, Series 7, Series 79, Series 63), or expected to acquire licenses within 120 days of joining
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Superior communications, analytical and organizational skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Self-starter with demonstrable common sense and business acumen
- Knowledge and experience in corporate finance, accounting, financial modeling and valuation
- Understanding of the global financial and capital markets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Proficiency in Factset, CapIQ and Bloomberg
- High levels of motivation and strong work ethic
- Commitment to a collaborative and team-based environment
