The Regional Business Development Executive – Specialty Insurance is an individual contributor responsible for driving profitable growth and retention of specialty commercial insurance products, initially focusing on Cyber, Energy, and Equipment Breakdown (EB) lines. The role involves developing new business, managing key broker relationships, and supporting client retention. Success requires a strategic, consultative approach and collaboration with underwriting, engineering, claims, and other business units to deliver market-relevant solutions.

The role involves developing new business, managing key broker relationships, and supporting client retention. Success requires a strategic, consultative approach and collaboration with underwriting, engineering, claims, and other business units to deliver market-relevant solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities with larger local, regional, and national firms across multiple lines of business (EB, Cyber, Energy, Property).
- Develop strong relationships across both retail and wholesale distribution channels, emphasizing IDC and Business Unit Select firms.
- Manage the full new business sales cycle: pipeline development, qualification, proposal delivery, and binding of key accounts.
- Coordinate with underwriting to structure solutions aligned with appetite and profitability targets.
- Manage renewals for existing accounts within the assigned territory.
- Lead account review and stewardship meetings with brokers and insureds.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for account growth, including coverage enhancements and cross-sell potential.
- Partner with underwriting and claims to address account-specific needs and ensure high service standards.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with key broker contacts at both the retail and wholesale levels.
- Represent the company at industry events, broker summits, and client-facing meetings.
- Provide clear and consistent communication back to internal stakeholders regarding broker needs and feedback.
- Develop and maintain a territory plan that prioritizes growth opportunities based on market potential.
- Monitor production metrics and contribute to regional sales reporting and forecasting.
- Adjust strategies based on evolving market conditions and internal underwriting direction.
- Partner with underwriting, claims, marketing, and product teams to deliver a coordinated client experience.
- Share market feedback and competitive intelligence to support continuous product and service improvement.
- Participate in internal planning, pipeline reviews, and cross-functional sales initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in sales or marketing preferred.
- 10 years of professional experience in the Property & Casualty or Surplus Line industries.
- General knowledge of property casualty insurance.
- Specific knowledge of EB, Cyber, Property, Predict and Prevent capabilities, Energy.
- Ability to assess and understand workflows.
- Consultative selling and presentation skills.
- Extensive product knowledge of HSB products and ability to identify potential Munich Re cross-sell opportunities.
- Territory/client management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with larger local, regional, and national brokerages.
