Executive Summary: HRUCKUS is looking for an experienced Customer Service & Patient Collections Associate to join a dynamic healthcare revenue cycle team to assist patients with billing questions, insurance-related issues, and account resolution while delivering outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Position Description: The successful candidate will respond to high-volume patient inquiries, research and resolve billing issues with insurance companies, collect outstanding balances, verify insurance eligibility, and assist patients with various billing and financial responsibilities while ensuring strict HIPAA compliance.
Position Responsibilities:
- Respond to a high volume of patient inquiries via phone, email, and written correspondence regarding billing and account questions.
- Research and resolve billing inquiries by working directly with insurance companies and third-party payers.
- Collect outstanding patient balances and update demographic and insurance information during patient interactions.
- Verify insurance eligibility using payer portals, available technologies, and direct communication with insurance carriers.
- Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and resolve claim-related issues.
- Assist patients with insurance billing questions, claim denials, Coordination of Benefits (COB), secondary insurance billing, copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and patient financial responsibility.
- Review reports related to primary care provider assignments and self-pay exceptions to resolve outstanding issues.
- Identify recurring billing trends and communicate recommendations for process improvements.
- Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in customer service, patient financial services, medical billing, healthcare collections, or revenue cycle operations.
- Experience working with insurance companies and healthcare billing processes.
- Ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and resolve insurance-related issues.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare billing systems.
