A precision manufacturing organization located in Chicopee, Massachusetts is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and production of components for the Aerospace, Defense, and Space (AD&S) sectors. This role is a key contributor to engineering initiatives, New Product Introduction (NPI), and ongoing process optimization.

- Serve as a core member of the engineering team and contribute significantly to New Product Introduction (NPI) with emphasis on manufacturability, process capability, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensure all processes, components, and systems comply with customer requirements and industry standards for Aerospace, Defense, and Space applications.
- Review and analyze product design information—including 2D drawings, GD&T, 3D models, and related specifications—to define and propose optimized machining and production processes.
- Select appropriate tooling and fixturing for production; assist in fixture design and participate in fabrication of setup components.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives using lean manufacturing tools to minimize variable costs, increase efficiency, improve workflow, and boost throughput.
- Specify and justify capital equipment upgrades and identify automation opportunities for manual or semi-automated processes.
- Provide hands-on technical support to the shop floor to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Support related operational processes such as Preventive Maintenance and continuous improvement programs.
- Lead cross-functional teams in conducting 8D Root Cause Analysis and implementing effective corrective actions for internal and external non-conformances.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Minimum 3–5 years of recent Manufacturing Engineering experience in a machine shop or machining environment serving the Aerospace, Defense, or Space markets (required).
- Hands-on machining experience strongly preferred; ideal candidate has prior experience as a CNC Machinist and progressed into an engineering role.
- Experience with Mazak and Matsuura milling and mill-turn equipment is highly desirable.
- Previous involvement in the manufacture of blades and vanes is a strong plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong proficiency with precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers (ID/OD), depth gauges, and indicators.
- Ability to read and interpret AD&S part blueprints, engineering models, and specifications with detailed understanding of GD&T.
- Lean manufacturing certification and demonstrated application of lean principles, with examples of past projects and quantifiable results.
- Strong project management capabilities.
- Formal training or certification in 8D problem solving and internal auditing.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for designing conceptual work cells and plant layouts is beneficial but not required.
