Job Title: Development Director
Status: Full-time, exempt
Salary: Starting at $85,000/year commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities:
o Develop and execute the annual development/fundraising plan in conjunction with the Fundraising Committee Chair to raise vital funds in a cost
effective and time efficient manner.
o Identify and cultivate prospective donors.
o Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors.
o Re-engage lapsed donors.
o Create and execute communication strategies for all individual donors.
o Write grant proposals and reports to foundations and other funding venues.
o Secure financial and in-kind support from individuals, foundations and corporations for all fundraising and community outreach events.
o Plan, organize, and manage all special events aimed at fundraising and friend-raising.
o Recruit, train and manage special events volunteers.
o Manage and maintain special events budgets.
o Prepare all post-event correspondence.
o Manage the donor database, data entry, gift processing, and gift acknowledgement.
o Generate and maintain all pertinent files, records, and mailing lists.
o Encourage and support board member fundraising efforts.
o Attend fundraising committee meetings and assist committee chair and members.
o Attend local fundraising events, business meetings and networking opportunities to establish and develop contacts.
o Oversee and manage the new office manager in their administrative, business and financial duties.
o Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
o High School Diploma or GED (required).
o Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field preferred.
o Previous experience in non-profit organizations preferred.
o Strong organizational and time management skills.
o Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data is entered accurately.
o Ability to multi-task when necessary.
o Great oral and written communication skills.
o Excellent customer service skills.
o Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
o Knowledge of state and federal laws that apply to the duties of this position.
o Must be able to analyze information and make recommendations to management as needed.
o Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions within the scope of the position.
o Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
o Ability to maintain strict organization and client confidentiality.
Physical Demands:
o Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching for extended periods of time.
o Periodic need to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment:
o Work is generally performed in a fast-paced, high volume, office environment.
o Must be able to tolerate frequent interruptions from clients, staff members, and others.
Travel Requirements:
o Occasional travel to various community events may be required and may include some nights and weekends.
