Legal Accounting Manager

Our client, a well-established insurance defense law firm, is seeking a Legal Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations while partnering with leadership on financial performance and firm efficiency. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys both hands-on accounting and contributing to the bigger picture.
What You Will Do
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including AP/AR, billing, and account reconciliations
- Oversee the billing function to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and strong realization rates
- Prepare and analyze financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, general ledger)
- Monitor and report on attorney billable hours and productivity metrics
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes in accordance with GAAP
- Partner with firm leadership to support financial forecasting and decision-making
- Maintain and reconcile operating and escrow accounts
- Serve as a resource to attorneys and staff on billing processes and best practices
- Coordinate with payroll and leadership on bonus and compensation-related reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience managing or overseeing billing and/or accounting processes
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel (Clio experience a plus)
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with leadership
