Medical Examiner/Coroner Liaison

HR Recruiting Team
Portland, OR Full Time
POSTED ON 7/28/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/28/2026

Solvita comes from “sol” meaning sun and “vita” meaning life. As sunlight nurtures new life, we take the donor gift and transform it into new hope, bringing the light of healing to patients in our local hospitals and to patients around the globe in need of tissue transplants.

Because we believe that everyone deserves more time to live life to its fullest.

The Medical Examiner/Coroner Liaison plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the tissue bank and medicolegal professionals, ensuring collaboration to support tissue donation. This position is integral to the success of the donation process, serving as the organization’s expert in navigating the complex intersection of donation, forensic investigations, and legal requirements. By fostering strong relationships with medical examiners, coroners, and their teams, the liaison promotes understanding and alignment with the tissue bank’s mission, ultimately contributing to the life-enhancing impact of tissue donation.

Liaison and Relationship Management:

  • Act as the primary representative for Solvita in interactions with medical examiner and coroner offices.
  • Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with medicolegal professionals and their teams.
  • Act as a trusted resource to address questions, concerns, or objections related to tissue donation.
  • Promote the mission and values of Solvita through consistent, professional communication and engagement.

Case Coordination and Logistics:

  • Collaborate with medical examiners and coroners to facilitate pre- and post-autopsy releases for potential donor cases, ensuring alignment with investigative timelines.
  • Serve as a key point of contact to streamline communication and resolve logistical challenges, including scheduling and coordination with internal recovery teams.
  • Provide clear, real-time updates on case status to internal and external stakeholders, minimizing delays and optimizing the donation process.
  • Work closely with medicolegal offices to ensure processes support their investigations without compromising donation opportunities.

Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure all interactions and processes adhere to applicable state, federal, and industry regulations, including those set by the AATB, ABMDI and FDA.
  • Accurately document all communications, case evaluations, and outcomes.
  • Stay informed of evolving regulations and standards, incorporating them into practice and providing updates to relevant stakeholders.

Education and Outreach:

  • Develop and deliver educational programs and materials for medical examiner and coroner offices to enhance understanding of tissue donation.
  • Train internal staff on medicolegal considerations and best practices for working with external partners.
  • Represent the tissue bank at conferences, workshops, and community events to strengthen relationships and advocate for donation.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyze metrics related to medical examiner/coroner cases, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular reports to leadership on program performance, including successes, challenges, and recommendations for enhancement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve collaboration and increase donation rates through data-driven decision-making.

Those that display conscientiousness, personal accountability, dependability, team work, a safety mindset, and kindness are encouraged to apply!

We offer:

  • A highly competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life and supplemental insurance
  • 401(k) with employer contribution and match
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) - up to 5 weeks in your first year!
