Duties Include
Strategic HR Management:
- Develop, revise, and enforce HR policies and procedures in alignment with best practices.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to enhance workforce planning and talent management.
- Communicate policy changes and ensure understanding among employees.
- Assist in the development and implementation of organizational change initiatives and cultural transformation efforts.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and management of employee benefits programs, including health, retirement, and wellness initiatives.
- Liaise with benefits vendors and providers to manage relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure service levels meet organizational needs.
- Monitor vendor performance and resolve issues related to benefits administration and claims processing.
- Conduct benefits orientations for new hires and facilitate open enrollment sessions, ensuring employees understand their options and rights.
- Ensure accurate enrollment, changes, and terminations of employee benefits, processing all related paperwork on time.
- Perform market analysis to ensure competitive salary offerings and benefit packages.
- Oversee the offboarding activities and participate in exit interviews as needed.
- Ensure organizational compliance with labor laws, regulations, and HR policies.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to employee benefits, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, and HIPAA.
- Maintain accurate employee records and prepare necessary reports for management and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications, administer new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Utilize HR metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of HR initiatives and guide decision-making.
- Report metrics to senior leadership for strategic planning.
- HR certification (e.g., THRP, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable.
- Experience working in tribal or Native-owned enterprises is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in HR, with experience in benefits, recruiting and employee relations or a related HR function.
- Experience in conducting investigations and resolving workplace disputes is required.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, local, and tribal employment laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with Title 22 of the PBPN Tribal Law and Order Code and tribal preference practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Physically mobile with reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to read computer screens, email and talk on the phone.
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
- Ability to lift to twenty-five (25) pounds.
