Maintenance Technician I (Maintenance Mechanic)
Location: Ontario, CA
Shift: Day Shift | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Overtime
Pay: $23–$26/hr (during agency period)
Conversion Pay: $28–$32/hr upon permanent hire
Job Summary
We are hiring a Maintenance Technician I (Maintenance Mechanic) to support daily maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC machines and facility equipment in a manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role supporting preventive maintenance, mechanical repairs, and general facility support to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on CNC mills, lathes, and production equipment
- Inspect, maintain, and replace fluids (coolants, oils, lubricants)
- Assist with troubleshooting and mechanical repairs (leaks, alignment issues, worn components)
- Support senior technicians with machine repairs, diagnostics, and part replacements
- Monitor facility systems including compressors, pumps, cranes, and material-handling equipment
- Assist with basic electrical, plumbing, and facility maintenance tasks
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas
- Follow all safety rules including PPE and lockout/tagout procedures
- Identify and communicate potential machine or facility issues before downtime occurs
- Work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision
Qualifications & Experience
- 2–5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or machine shop environments
- Experience with CNC mills and lathes (3–5 axis preferred)
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and basic electrical components
- Familiarity with spindles, servo/drive systems, axes, and tooling
- Experience supporting facility systems (compressed air, pumps, plumbing, electrical, cranes)
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Forklift / scissor lift / boom lift experience or willingness to become certified
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (due to ITAR compliance)
- Must be able to pass drug screening and background check
- High School Diploma or GED required (technical training or certifications preferred)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
