What You’ll Do: As a Dental Assistant, you will work chairside with the dentist to promote good dental and general health through patient education and interaction. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming, seating, draping, and helping them feel comfortable
- Assist the dentist during procedures, including chairside support and instrument transfer
- Perform visual exams and provide oral health instruction (OHI) as directed by the dentist
- Perform prophies, polish restorations using a slow‑speed handpiece, and remove excess cement with hand instruments in accordance with certification and scope of practice
- Take dental X‑rays and intraoral photographs
- Apply sealants, fluorides, and other cavity‑preventive agents as permitted by certification
- Mix filling and restorative materials
- Take dental impressions as authorized
- Answer patient and parent/guardian questions regarding oral health, treatment plans, and hygiene instructions
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with dentists, hygienists, and clinical staff to deliver high‑quality patient care
All duties will be performed in accordance with the individual’s certifications and Oregon Board of Dentistry scope‑of‑practice requirements.
Who You Are: You’re an experienced Dental Assistant who enjoys working chairside and engaging directly with patients and families. You bring confidence from your time in the field, take pride in your skills, and know how to balance efficiency with compassion, especially when working with children. Other Qualifications include:
- 2–3 years of hands on dental assisting experience in a clinical setting
- Must meet Oregon Board of Dentistry requirements for dental assistants, including required certifications for the role (e.g., radiologic proficiency
- Candidates currently certified and practicing in Washington State are encouraged to apply: Must be eligible and willing to obtain Oregon dental assistant certification through the Oregon Board of Dentistry’s certification by credential process, as applicable
- Ability to work efficiently chairside while supporting patient comfort, safety, and clinical quality
- Knowledge of infection control, dental instruments, and clinical workflows
- Professional, reliable, and team‑oriented with strong communication skills
