Overview
As a Prepress Specialist, you play a key role in ensuring customer artwork is accurately prepared for production. You bring technical precision, strong visual awareness, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset to support a fast-paced production environment. You’ll prepare and optimize print files, manage prepress workflows, and collaborate with production to maintain the highest print quality and efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat to create and prepare print-ready PDF files for RIP processing via Onyx.
- Export PDF files according to job specifications, including correct ICC profiles and spot colors.
- Review and adjust customer-submitted artwork to meet internal and external print specifications.
- Collaborate with operations and production teams to prioritize print jobs and resolve file or quality issues.
- Prepare final approved files for printing and assist production teams with any required adjustments.
- Create product renderings by placing customer logos and designs on templates for proofing and approval.
- Inspect all vector and raster artwork for proper resolution, color accuracy, and proportional sizing.
- Verify color callouts using printed PMS charts and color swatch books.
- Partner with print technicians to create new print areas and templates for new products.
- Maintain organized and clearly labeled digital file systems.
- Support continuous improvement by developing and refining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform software updates and improve automation tools as needed.
- Learn and implement prepress workflows for new printers as they are introduced.
Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in prepress or a related printing role preferred.
- Experience with direct-to-object printers and Enfocus software preferred.
- Skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
- Experience with RIP software, especially Onyx.
- Strong understanding of color theory, CMYK processes, and print production standards.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative, proactive mindset
