Position Overview:
Our Sales Development Specialist (SDS), reporting to our Sales and Marketing Manager, will be the first point of contact between HPS, Inc. and potential customers. The SDS’ mission is to build a qualified pipeline for our Strategic Sales Specialists (SSS) by identifying and engaging ideal prospects, uncovering business needs, and booking introductory meetings. Success in this role directly enables our SSS’ to focus on engineering solutions and converting high-potential leads into long-term partners.
Provided training:
Minimum 3 months on-the-job, concentrated technical and commercial training with our seal experts and strategic sales team.
The Sales Development Specialist will be responsible for:
- Researching, identifying, and qualifying potential customers that fit HPS's Ideal Customer Profile: OEMs/component manufacturers in fluid power, process (F&B, pharma, chem), automation, medical device, robotics, or mobile equipment.
- Executing multi-channel outreach (email, phone, LinkedIn, and others) to introduce HPS’s value proposition and secure discovery calls for the Strategic Sales Specialist.
- Vetting prospects by understanding their applications, seal usage, pain points, and fit for HPS’s engineered solutions.
- Maintaining accurate records in Salesforce, tracking lead progress, communications, and follow-up activities.
- Working with Sales and Marketing to support campaigns targeting strategic verticals or geographies.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on industry trends, competitor activity, and target account developments.
- Preparing Strategic Sales Specialists with detailed lead notes and objectives ahead of discovery calls.
- Consistently meeting or exceeding weekly activity and qualified meeting metrics.
The ideal candidate is:

- Self-motivated, organized, and goal-driven with a team-oriented mindset.
- Observant and adept at reading customer cues.
- A strong communicator to effectively present HPS’ differentiated solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-3 years of B2B sales, lead generation, or inside sales experience, preferably with exposure to industrial or technical products.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and CRM tools, preferably Salesforce.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a demanding environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening, which includes a drug test and a background check.
- Ability to work onsite 8:30am – 5:00pm EST Monday-Friday.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require sponsorship.
