DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION
The Director of Construction will manage commercial development projects for a Development/Property Management company in the Lexington KY area. Employee must collaborate with owner and other staff members, oversee site development and site construction as the owner’s representative, review costs, determine cost feasibilities including land use, cost estimates, design, construction, leasing, and sales. Candidate will coordinate with outside professionals, including engineers, architects, attorneys, construction, and project managers, for each stage of the development process, from initial conceptual layouts to final construction drawings and permitting. Employee will represent and maintain communication with all relative parties of each project, including construction brokers, prospective tenants, government agencies and officials from concept to completion. The Director of Construction will assist with capital improvements on established properties and site-specific maintenance for retail development centers containing over 1 million square feet.
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field is preferable but may be substituted with experience
- 10 years plus experience in site development—design and management
- Demonstrate an understanding of all primary aspects of commercial construction
- Familiarity with governmental processes and procedures related to Construction planning and development
- Ability to lead project teams to accomplish goals
- Ability to work flexible hours dependent upon project needs
- Commercial leasing and tenant management experience
- Ability to manage a variety of tasks within a tight schedule
- Effective communication and writing skills
- Demonstrate strong initiative and ability to work with minimal oversight
- Ability to delegate responsibilities and work well with others
- Auto CAD and related software knowledge
