SUMMARY

The Senior Electrical Designer will provide electrical design services on a variety of commercial building projects.  

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as Lead Designer on assigned projects
  • Manage the planning and scheduling of assigned projects of various sizes and complexity
  • Ensure quality control and assurance metrics are met throughout project duration
  • Work with clients to deliver the end project
  • Visit the site once under construction at regular intervals as required by the project
  • Provide cost control during the design and construction process
  • Maintain project schedule and project cost summaries to track work progress, budget status, and manpower resource utilization
  • Coordinate the work of assigned team members
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Technical design on assigned projects
  • Assist in the production of construction documents (drawings and specifications) for new buildings and for renovations and additions to existing facilities
  • Provide coordination of project designs with other disciplines
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships
  • Additional duties as assigned

 REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a high school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED)
  • Proficient in the use of Autodesk Revit
  • Seven (7) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in electrical design
  • Basic proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of the design of lighting, receptacle, and data layouts based on building types
  • Knowledge of running photometrics with AG132 or Visual
  • Knowledge of related building and electrical codes
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices
  • Proficient in the use of Revit

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer designation
  • Previous project manager or senior designer experience
  • Certifications in Energy Management
  • Ten (10 ) years of experience in the MEP field
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Revit

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work indoors in an office setting.  Must be capable of occasionally climbing ladders and of traversing obstacles.  Regularly required to type, file, or lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
