What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employee Relations and Investigations Specialist position at Hoxton Circle?
We're partnering with a large, well-established enterprise to find a seasoned Employee Relations & Workplace Investigations Specialist. Our client is a respected name in their industry — a multi-state, global operation known for holding themselves to a high standard when it comes to workplace integrity and culture.
This is a specialist role for someone who lives and breathes investigations. You'll own the process end-to-end, act as a trusted advisor to HR and leadership, and play a key part in building a workplace where fairness and accountability aren't just values on a wall.
The role
- Lead and manage workplace investigations into allegations of policy violations, misconduct, harassment, and discrimination — from initial intake through to documented findings and recommended actions.
- Ensure all investigations meet legal standards across federal, state, and local requirements; assess legal liability and escalate high-risk matters appropriately.
- Prepare thorough, objective investigation reports and present outcomes to HR leadership and legal counsel as needed.
- Develop and deliver training for managers and employees on investigation processes, workplace conduct, and compliance.
- Analyse investigation trends to surface systemic issues and recommend policy updates and preventive measures.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to HR and management on sensitive employee relations matters, helping maintain a respectful and compliant workplace culture.
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; AWI or SHRM certification required.
- 7 years of experience in employee relations or workplace investigations within a multi-state organization — global experience is a strong plus.
- Deep knowledge of employment law at the federal, state, and local level.
- Exceptional interviewing, analytical, and report-writing skills — you produce clear, defensible documentation under pressure.
- Proficiency in HR systems, with Workday HRMS experience preferred, alongside Microsoft Office Suite.
- Unimpeachable discretion, ethical judgment, and the ability to remain impartial in complex, emotionally charged situations.
- A natural collaborator who works effectively across HR, Legal, and senior leadership.
