Controller

A well-established agriculture company is seeking a Controller to lead its accounting and finance function. This role will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and day-to-day accounting operations. The Controller will partner closely with the CFO and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal processes, and support strategic decision-making. This is a key position within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, contributing directly to the company’s overall financial health and success.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Manage the company’s accounting systems, ensuring accurate posting of transactions and adherence to internal policies and procedures.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting process by collecting and analyzing data to identify financial trends and variances.
• Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Monitor and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Work closely with the CFO to implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.
• Analyze financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities, operational efficiencies, and financial risks within the business.
• Participate in audit preparations and respond to auditors’ requests during the audit process.
• Provide mentorship and support to junior accounting staff, helping to develop their skills and improve processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and recommendations to drive business performance and growth.
• Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and reporting as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a manufacturing, agriculture, or production-related industry.
• An Accounting Manager OR Assistant Controller looking for a promotion would be considered for this role.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail.
