Job description
We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CMM Programmer to join our team in Hampton, VA. In this role, you’ll develop and support inspection programs used in manufacturing to ensure the accuracy and quality of aerospace components. You'll work with advanced tools like CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines), ATOS Blue Light Scanners, and NX Unigraphics modeling software to support production, tooling, and engineering.
What You’ll Do
- Create inspection programs for CMM and structured light systems using Visual Basic, Python, and specialized measurement software.
- Extract geometry from CAD models using NX Unigraphics to support inspection, tooling, and casting processes.
- Analyze measurement data and provide feedback to improve manufacturing accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to define inspection requirements and integrate inspection tools into workflows.
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing programs, update documentation, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Train and support end users in the operation of dimensional inspection systems.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong knowledge of coordinate metrology, including principles of CMMs and optical measurement.
- Proficiency in NX Unigraphics for CAD model manipulation and data extraction.
- Experience programming with Visual Basic and Python (or similar).
- Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and translate them into functional inspection routines.
- Solid mathematical skills, including geometry, trigonometry, and statistical analysis.
- Clear communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and documenting processes.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in a technical field OR high school diploma with at least 2 years of comparable technical experience.
- Experience: 5 years of hands-on experience in dimensional programming, CMM, or related inspection systems.
