Role Description The Legal Assistant Paralegal role is a full-time, on-site position based in Kalamazoo, MI. This role supports attorneys by preparing and organizing legal documents, maintaining case files, and managing scheduling and correspondence. Day-to-day tasks include conducting legal and factual research, reviewing and summarizing documents, and assisting with the drafting of contracts, pleadings, and other legal materials. The Legal Assistant Paralegal will also coordinate with clients and external parties, help prepare materials for meetings and proceedings, and ensure accurate and timely filing of documents with courts and agencies.
Qualifications
- Attention to detail in Document Review, with the ability to identify inconsistencies, errors, and relevant information.
- Strong foundation in Law and familiarity with corporate, real estate, estate planning, and commercial matters.
- Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, formatting, and organizing contracts, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Effective Communication skills for interacting with attorneys, clients, and external parties, both in writing and verbally.
- Research abilities to gather and analyze legal and factual information, including case law, statutes, and regulations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with legal practice management software and standard office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PDF tools).
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Prior experience in a law firm or legal department is preferred, especially in areas such as corporate or real estate law.
