Position Overview:
The Director of Engineering will provide strategic leadership, technical oversight, and operational management for the firm’s engineering department. This role involves managing a team, ensuring technical excellence, overseeing project delivery, nurturing client relationships, and supporting business development initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in civil engineering related to land development, have experience managing multidisciplinary teams, and demonstrate exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of land development projects, including site planning, grading, drainage, utilities, roads, and infrastructure.
- Develop and implement departmental goals aligned with the company’s strategic plan.
- Serve as a technical mentor to a team of engineers, providing guidance and support in design, problem-solving, and professional development.
- Prepare and review cost estimates, technical reports, plans, specifications, and permit applications for submission to regulatory authorities.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, on-time, and within-budget project performance.
- Manage relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure clear communication and a seamless approval process.
- Attend client meetings, public hearings, and industry events as needed to represent the firm and promote its services.
- Develop new client business relationships and strengthen existing client relationships.
Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering license active in the state of Pennsylvania, and the ability to obtain reciprocity.
- 10 years of relevant engineering design experience with at least 5 years in a senior or principal engineering role.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D and other design and modeling software.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations affecting land development, including zoning, permitting, and environmental requirements.
- Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office suite.
- Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent presentation skills - must be comfortable presenting to clients and stakeholders.
