What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility/Sports Support Level 1 position at Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, directly supervises the facilities assigned during the scheduled shift. This position may work up to 29 hours per week and has hours that vary but generally include evenings and weekends.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Opens and closes the HAPRA facilities. Coordinate entry and exiting the facilities with the facilities other than HAPRA operated.
- Sets up tables, chair, bleachers and/or equipment for classes, programs, games, activities, and special events.
- Performs custodial duties in HAPRA facilities including but not limited to sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; stock restrooms and other areas with supplies; wipe down kitchen and bathrooms; any other needs as necessary.
- Assist patrons as needed with any changes regarding set up or use of HAPRA equipment. Enforce policies while on grounds.
- Promote interest and provides information regarding recreation programs to the general public.
- Keeps track of attendance records, score sheets, and drop-in fees. They are to be returned to the Sports Manager’s mailbox in a timely manner.
- Participates in staff meetings and training.
- Reports all maintenance and staff concerns to your supervisor.
- Perform other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Current high school student or holds a high school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year experience working or volunteering with the public. HAPRA, at its discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.
- Highly positive and enthusiastic style
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow directions and work independently to complete tasks or duties assigned
- Ability to assess situations, problem-solve and work effectively under stress within deadlines and changes in work priorities.
- Ability to work at times other than normal business hours and travel to other locations.
- Skills in operation of various recreational equipment
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.

The typical work environment of this job is an open center or off site location setting where the noise level varies from quiet to moderately loud.
