Duties
- Install, inspect, and repair electrical wiring, outlets, switches, circuit breakers, and lighting fixtures in residential properties.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to accurately execute wiring layouts.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and power tools to identify faults in electrical systems.
- Ensure all work complies with local electrical codes, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 70) standards, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Perform high-voltage electrical wiring tasks safely and efficiently on residential projects involving industrial or commercial-grade systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to prevent hazards and ensure ongoing safety and functionality.
- Collaborate with contractors and homeowners during renovation or construction projects to deliver quality electrical solutions aligned with project specifications.
Experience
- Proven experience as a residential electrician with a strong background in electrical wiring, blueprint reading, and schematic interpretation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial and commercial electrical systems, including low voltage and high voltage applications.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting complex electrical systems using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70 compliance standards, NEC regulations, and local electrical codes is essential.
- Experience working on construction sites or renovation projects, including framing carpentry or handyman tasks is a plus.
- Ability to read electrical schematics accurately and interpret blueprints for diverse residential projects.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to electrical work to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
