Role Summary

As a Senior HRIS Analyst at Howard University Hospital, you will own the day-to-day operation, integrity, and continuous improvement of our HRIS platform — the system that powers every paycheck, every benefit election, and every workforce decision across our academic medical center. Reporting to the Manager, HRIS, you will administer Lawson and its connected systems, manage data integrations, deliver reporting and analytics, lead system projects, and partner across HR, IT, Finance, and external vendors to keep our HR technology accurate, secure, and aligned with the work it supports.

If you are a hands-on HRIS professional who enjoys solving complex system problems, building reports that change how leaders make decisions, and bringing structure to data and process, this is your opportunity to make a measurable impact at one of the nation’s most storied academic medical centers.

What You’ll Do

System Administration & Operations

  • Administer and maintain Lawson HRIS modules including Core HR, Payroll, Time & Attendance, and Talent
  • Configure system settings, parameters, tables, and workflows to support evolving HR business needs
  • Coordinate testing and validation of patches, releases, and version upgrades; develop and execute test plans
  • Perform routine system maintenance and parameter changes to ensure functionality of HR processes

Integrations & Data Management

  • Manage and monitor integrations between Lawson and connected systems including payroll, time-tracking, and finance systems
  • Troubleshoot interface failures and data discrepancies in partnership with Information Technology and external vendors
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and currency of personnel data across Lawson and connected systems
  • Perform routine data audits and reconciliations; coordinate mass data updates, load files, and Personnel Action Form (PAF) entry standards

Reporting & Analytics

  • Design, develop, and maintain custom and standard reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analytics
  • Support HR leadership, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Payroll, and Finance with timely, accurate workforce data
  • Produce compliance reporting including EEO-1, ACA, OSHA, and other regulatory submissions
  • Conduct HR data modeling and trend analysis to support workforce planning, negotiations, and grievance processes

Security & Compliance

  • Administer HRIS security including role design, user access provisioning and de-provisioning, segregation of duties, and audit support
  • Partner with HR leadership and IT to enforce data privacy and confidentiality controls
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, security roles, integrations, and standard operating procedures

Projects & Process Improvement

  • Lead or support HRIS-related projects including module implementations, upgrades, vendor transitions, and process automation
  • Document business and functional requirements; conduct user acceptance testing
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes through technology and self-service

End-User Support & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Serve as the escalation point for HR end-user system issues; troubleshoot pay and data-related discrepancies
  • Develop training materials and deliver training to HR staff and managers on Lawson functionality, self-service tools, and reporting
  • Manage relationships with HRIS vendors and integration partners; coordinate support tickets and enhancement requests
  • Partner cross-functionally with Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Payroll, IT, and Finance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field required
  • Minimum four (4) years of HRIS experience required, including hands-on Lawson administration

About Howard University Hospital

Howard University Hospital (HUH) is the nation’s only teaching hospital located on the campus of a historically Black university. With a legacy dating back to 1862 — when it operated as Freedmen’s Hospital, providing care and refuge to those who had been denied it elsewhere — HUH has grown into one of the most comprehensive healthcare facilities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and is a designated DC Level 1 Trauma Center. Today, HUH continues its proud tradition of delivering exemplary, patient-centered, and culturally responsive care to the community, while providing exceptional learning and professional development opportunities for the next generation of healthcare professionals.
