What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Adjustment Counselor position at Howard School?
Provide classroom guidance, individual and small group counseling per special education requirements and demonstrated need based on data with a focus on skills building. Planning, organizing, and delivering a comprehensive school counseling program in classrooms, small groups, and individually. Communicate regularly with and work collaboratively with families of students receiving services. Consult and coordinate with community service providers when appropriate. Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in establishing support for students in need and in understanding the physical, social, emotional, and psychological factors that strengthen or detract from a student's academic achievement. Work collaboratively with school administration to support school culture, climate, and systems. Conduct risk assessments with students, consult with community emergency services providers and refer students for evaluation as needed. Participate in IEP and 504 meetings. Participate in grade-level and support team meetings. Participate as a member of the school PBIS team.
