Robot Technician
Job Summary
The Robot Technician supports day-to-day operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial robotic systems used in painting, welding, and material handling. This role ensures equipment reliability, reduces downtime, and assists production teams by performing repairs, calibrations, and routine inspections.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic systems, including paint robots, weld robots, and material-handling/positioning robots.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and programming issues to minimize production interruptions.
- Inspect, test, and calibrate robotic equipment, end-of-arm tooling, sensors, and alignment systems.
- Support robot startups, changeovers, and adjustments to ensure proper part positioning and process quality.
- Replace worn components, install updated parts, and perform routine mechanical rebuilds as needed.
- Assist engineers with system upgrades, new robot installations, and integration projects.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and company compliance requirements while working on energized systems.
Qualifications
- Technical degree or certificate in Industrial Maintenance, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience maintaining industrial robots (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa/Motoman, etc.).
- Working knowledge of electrical schematics, PLCs, sensors, and servo controls.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, wiring, pneumatics, and basic robot programming.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures in automated manufacturing environments.
