JOB
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Provide private/semi-private swimming lesson instruction
DUTIES:
Provide swimming lesson instruction for various skill levels and ages. Must be willing to work as a lifeguard, if certified, when needed.
Maintain all records, (attendance, incident reports, scheduling, lesson plans)Communicate schedules, make up lessons, incident reports to Aquatics Coordinator/Pool Manager.
Must be willing and available to operate as a Certified Pool Operator (CPO), if certified, when needed.
Address medical and behavioral concerns with parents, organize program supplies, perform logistical duties, and update lesson plans.
Attend mandatory in-service training(s) or other meetings as required.
Notify participants, parents and program coordinator of canceled classes, and arrange for make-ups due to cancelations.
Maintain friendly, positive communication with participants and parents.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the program supervisor.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Possess the following Red Cross certifications: First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Required.
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred.
CPO/Aquatics Facility Operator preferred.
Additional qualifications/skills:
Must be at least 19 years of age.
Willing to accept responsibility.
Display leadership abilities and be able to delegate duties and responsibilities.
Must teach Red Cross swim lessons.
Must be trained in the use of AED.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience working with children
Instructor I:
Three (3) years' experience with proven track record
Instructor II:
WSI and/or CPO
Instructor
III:
WSI and CPO with more than five (5) years of experience with proven track record
EDUCATION:
High School, GED, or attending college
RATE OF PAY:
Contingent - Paraprofessional – Pay will be commensurate with experience and certifications
