What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Project Manager — Architecture | position at Hovland Barnes?
Senior Project Manager — Architecture | Sarasota Florida
Full-time · On-site · 10 Years Experience Required
Here's the deal
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager who's done this before — someone who can walk into a complex project, take ownership, and drive it from early concept all the way through construction completion without losing sight of the client, the budget, or the team. If you've been around long enough to know what can go wrong and how to get ahead of it, we want to talk.
What you'll be doing
You'll be the anchor on large-scale architecture projects, working alongside a Project Architect and coordinating across internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clients. That means:
- Leading projects from conception to completion — keeping vision, scope, schedule, and budget aligned the whole way through
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, keeping everyone on the same page without the noise
- Building and managing project schedules, identifying bottlenecks before they become problems
- Owning the budget — tracking spend, flagging variances, and making sure every dollar ties back to project outcomes
- Managing quality and compliance throughout every phase
- Mentoring project teams and building a culture where people do their best work
- Getting ahead of risk — not reacting to it
What we're looking for
- 10 years of project management experience in the architecture industry
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
- Architecture licensure preferred — not a dealbreaker if you're close
- Solid working knowledge of Autodesk Revit
- Comfortable with project management software and tools
- A communicator who can hold a room with a client and roll up their sleeves with a project team in the same afternoon
- Someone who handles pressure well and doesn't need a lot of structure to stay on track
