Job Description:
Houston Forensic Science Center is now seeking a full-time Forensic Biology Lab Technician.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Forensic Biology Technician will assist with a variety of administrative and laboratory duties under the direction of the management of the Forensic Biology section. Specific duties may include, but not be limited to, performing the following duties with little or no direct supervision:
- Carryout extraction, quantification, amplification, and utilize capillary electrophoresis on casework DNA samples
- Record case notes in specified forms with accuracy
- Utilize Laboratory Information Management System
- Comply with Standard Operating Procedures
- Perform laboratory support tasks such as stocking supplies, escorting vendors, conducting equipment/instrument performance checks and maintenance, preparing and performing quality checks on reagents
- Participate in research and validation projects as needed
- Assist with other administrative and laboratory support duties as needed.
