What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Treatment Service Technician position at Houston Water Solutions?
Houston Water Solutions is looking for an experienced Water Treatment Service Technician to join our Houston team.
We are specifically looking for someone with direct, hands-on experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, or repairing water treatment equipment, including water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, whole-house filtration systems, and similar water treatment equipment.
This is not a general plumbing position. General plumbing experience is helpful, but plumbing experience alone does not meet the experience requirement for this position.
What You'll Be Doing
- Install and service residential water softeners
- Install and service reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water systems
- Install and service whole-house filtration systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot water treatment equipment
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing systems
- Work with PVC, PEX, fittings, valves, drain lines, and related plumbing connections
- Test water and verify proper system operation
- Complete residential and commercial service calls
- Explain system operation and completed work to customers
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle
- Complete service documentation after each job
Our technicians work on both residential and commercial water treatment systems, so experience with commercial filtration or water treatment equipment is a strong plus.
Required Qualifications
- Direct hands-on experience with water treatment equipment
- Experience installing or servicing water softeners and/or reverse osmosis systems
- Basic plumbing and mechanical skills
- Experience working with PVC, PEX, fittings, valves, drain lines, or similar materials
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to safely lift and move water treatment equipment
- Comfortable performing hands-on physical field work
Physical & Field Work Requirements
This is an active field position, not a supervisory or desk-based technician role.
Some installations may require:
- Working outdoors in Houston weather
- Digging or trenching
- Running drain or water lines
- Working in tight or difficult installation areas
- Lifting and moving water treatment equipment
- Using hand and power tools throughout the day
Candidates should be comfortable performing all aspects of installation and service work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial water treatment or filtration experience
- Whole-house filtration experience
- Experience troubleshooting water softeners, RO systems, control valves, pumps, and filtration equipment
- Water Treatment Specialist license or other water-treatment certification
- Plumbing license
- Previous residential service experience
- Spanish speaking is a plus
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Start time: 7:30 AM
- Monday through Saturday availability required
- Schedule may vary depending on service and installation needs
Compensation
$20–$30 per hour, depending on water treatment experience, qualifications, and licensing.
Benefits
- Paid time off
- Health insurance
- Dental insurance
- Vision insurance
- Employee discount
- Opportunities for overtime
- Opportunities for advancement
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who is currently comfortable working hands-on in the field and has real experience with water treatment systems.
We are especially interested in candidates whose backgrounds include:
- Water softeners
- Reverse osmosis systems
- Whole-house filtration
- Carbon filtration
- Water conditioning equipment
- Commercial water treatment
- Well-water treatment
- Water filtration service and repair
If your background is primarily general plumbing, drain cleaning, sewer work, new-construction plumbing, estimating, or plumbing management without direct water treatment experience, this position may not be the right fit.
If you have real water treatment experience and enjoy installation, troubleshooting, service work, and working directly with customers, we'd like to hear from you.
