HOUSTON VOICE STUDIO IS HIRING VOICE FACULTY
We’re hiring a part-time, in-person teaching artist to join our faculty at Houston Voice Studio
This is a W-2 teaching position for someone who enjoys working closely with musical theater and pop singers of all ages and stages, and who values strong technique, expressive artistry, and thoughtful, singer-centered teaching.
THE STUDIO
HVS is a contemporary training space for singers founded in 2021 and based in Houston’s Rice Village.
We offer individualized, singer-centered coaching through:
- Weekly private lessons
- Small groups, classes, and summer programs
- Performance opportunities throughout the year
Our faculty works with a range of dedicated singers, including adult singers, recording artists, and musical theater performers, preparing for auditions, performances, and roles.
Our studio space is contemporary, well-equipped, and designed to support focused, creative work.
THE ROLE
Voice Faculty Responsibilities:
You’ll teach weekly 1:1 or group lessons, guide singers through performance and repertoire, and be part of a small, collaborative faculty team.
For qualified candidates, there’s also an opportunity to contribute to the studio's broader life through performances, group classes, workshops, and creative projects.
Schedule:
- 20 to 30 teaching hours per week (typically teaching 3-5 days)
- Scheduling is determined collaboratively
Compensation:
- Teaching rate begins at $30 per hour
- Training rate begins at $20 per hour

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have:
- Private teaching experience
- Ability to teach in person in Houston
- Piano proficiency or the ability to effectively source and use accompaniment tracks and digital resources
- Comfort working in musical theater, pop, and/or contemporary commercial styles
A strong applicant may also have:
- Professional performance experience
- Working understanding of vocal anatomy and physiology
- Experience with audition preparation, performance coaching, or role preparation
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Music Education, Vocal Performance, Pedagogy, or a related field
Experience in musical theater and/or contemporary commercial styles is strongly preferred, though we welcome applicants with a classical background who have experience or interest in working across styles.
