Accounts Receivable Specialist

Houston's Inc. is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support accurate and effective operations in our Accounts Receivable department. This position is an important part of ensuring timely collections, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing excellent customer service to our customers. The ideal candidate is organized, detail oriented, and comfortable balancing strong customer relationships with the consistent follow-through required to keep accounts current. Compensation:

• $22 Hourly
• Discretionary quarterly bonuses

Schedule:

• Monday–Friday 8AM-4:30PM
• One day per week work from home
• Full-Time Non-Exempt

Functions or Duties:

• Interact with customers by phone, email, and mail to resolve outstanding issues, answer customer queries, and collect past due account balances
• Apply payments to customer invoices while actively investigating and resolving irregularities
• Facilitate swift payment of invoices by directly contacting customers with outstanding account balances
• Review AR aging to ensure compliance; monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments
• Prepare daily bank deposits, process credit card payments, and adjustments
• Release orders from credit and delivery hold
• Open and close customer accounts
• Perform day / month / and quarter-end closing duties
• Record billbacks and collect on short pays, researching if there are discrepancies
• Collaborate with accounting staff and other departments as necessary, including but not limited to: Inside Sales, Returns, Purchasing, Admin, and Outside Sales
• Utilize CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool to provide timely updates into customer activity
• Obtain documentation for bank and other audits
• Grow sustainable relationships and trust with customer accounts through open and interactive communication

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills

• Ability to multi-task, work independently, and perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to effectively communicate with customers and employees using multiple mediums
• Must possess a professional and friendly attitude and be able to quickly develop a rapport with customers over the phone and via email.
• Strong mathematical skills
• Work with minimal supervision / problem solving skills
• Familiarity using a CRM software program (such as Salesforce.com) desirable
• Ability to effectively prioritize and complete work to meet deadlines
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Attention to detail / high level of accuracy

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma required.
• Two years background in Customer Service, Accounts Receivable, or equivalent experience, preferred not required

This position is frequently required to sit; look at a computer screen; use hands and fingers. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality.
