Job Overview:
The Paralegal will assist attorneys in the preparation, organization, and execution of legal tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal terminology, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines. As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting the legal team by performing a wide range of administrative and clerical tasks, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, communication and interaction with clients, and organizing case files.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Attorneys in Case Preparation
- Support attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings by organizing case files, gathering evidence, and ensuring materials are ready and easily accessible.
Document Review and Drafting:
- Review and organize case files, legal documents, and evidence.
- Draft and proofread legal documents, such as affidavits, pleadings, motions, discovery response, settlement agreements, and court filings.
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts, ensuring compliance with procedural rules and deadlines.
Client Interaction:
- Answer phones and assist with questions as needed.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, conduct interviews, and assist with preparing case materials.
- Attend client meetings and assist in preparing for hearings, trials, and mediations as needed.
Court Preparation and Trial Support:
- Prepare exhibits, witness lists, and other materials for court hearings and trials.
- Attend court hearings and trials, providing support to attorneys in the courtroom.
Administrative Support:
- Maintain organized case files and track important deadlines.
- Perform general office duties, including cleaning, document management and filing.
- Provide general administrative assistance, including managing attorney calendars and scheduling meetings.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma required, Paralegal Certificate, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Paralegal in Family Law preferred.
