Human Resources Generalist

Houston Public Schools is seeking a collaborative, organized, and service-oriented Human Resources Generalist to support district employees and daily HR operations. This position plays an important role in recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee relations, licensure tracking, and staff support while helping foster a positive and welcoming workplace culture.

The ideal candidate values relationships, communication, and employee support while maintaining strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Essential Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes
• Manage job postings and applicant communications
• Assist with interviews and employment documentation
• Process district payroll and maintain personnel records
• Track employee licensure and compliance requirements
• Support employee relations and staff engagement efforts
• Assist with handbooks, policies, and HR communications
• Provide responsive support to employees and administrators

Qualifications

• Degree in Human Resources, Business, Education, or related field preferred
• Experience in human resources and payroll preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• School district experience preferred but not required
