Studio Intern Job Description
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo offer internships to students currently enrolled at:
- Alvin Community College
- University of Houston
- Lone Star College
- Texas Southern University
Students attending these schools must receive authorization from the Internship Program Director in order to apply for this position.
Depending on the specific hiring area and the intern’s capabilities, job duties consist of writing and producing daily HLSR news stories which include the discovery of a story idea, conducting fact finding research, scripting, voice over, on camera reporting, and interviewing capabilities.
Students skilled in photography will work as a team with the writer/producer to collect video to support the story. Photographer will also provide remote audio services for the writer/producer. Students will provide audio assistance/grip services for staff and professional crews contracted with HLSR. Students will also provide live camera operation services for ongoing livestock and horse show events in NRG Center and NRG Arena.
Interns will fill typical broadcast control room roles such as Director and Associate Director services. Interns will assist with ongoing news monitoring of local newscasts and collect broadcast clips pertaining to HLSR.
