Vice President of Finance

VP OF FINANCE

Reports to: President | Leadership Team: Yes | Growth Opportunity: CFO

We are a privately held homebuilder with approximately $50 million in annual revenue and significant growth plans over the next several years. We are seeking a VP of Finance to serve as the company's senior financial leader and a key member of the leadership team.

This is a hands-on role for a strong financial leader who can ensure the fundamentals are done exceptionally well while also providing insight and financial discipline around strategic and operational decisions. The VP of Finance will help build the people, processes, systems, and reporting capabilities needed to support a substantially larger organization, with the opportunity to grow into the CFO role.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead all accounting and finance functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls.

· Participate fully in leadership team meetings, strategic planning, and major business decisions.

· Ensure timely, accurate monthly financial statements and management reporting.

· Develop forecasts, KPIs, and analysis that provide clear visibility into company and community performance, including sales, closings, margins, construction costs, overhead, inventory, cash requirements, and profitability.

· Lead cash-flow and capital planning and manage banking and lending relationships.

· Provide financial analysis and disciplined underwriting for land acquisitions, development opportunities, and other significant investments; compare actual results with budgets and original assumptions.

· Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, reporting, and controls to support continued growth.

· Lead and develop the accounting and finance team and identify future staffing and organizational needs.

· Manage relationships with outside CPAs, tax advisors, lenders, insurance providers, and other financial partners.

· Serve as a trusted financial partner to the President and ownership, bringing sound business judgment and a willingness to constructively challenge assumptions.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.

· 8-15 years of progressively responsible accounting and financial leadership experience, ideally including a Controller, VP of Finance, Director of Finance, or similar senior role.

· Homebuilding, residential construction, land development, real estate development, or related industry experience strongly preferred.

· Strong experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial analysis, internal controls, and banking relationships.

· Demonstrated ability to improve financial systems, processes, and reporting.

· Strong communication skills and the ability to translate financial information into practical business insight.

· Comfortable working both strategically and hands-on in a privately held, entrepreneurial, growth-oriented company.

· Capability and desire to grow into the CFO role as the organization expands.

Compensation

Competitive base salary plus performance-based annual incentive opportunity, commensurate with experience.
