Job Description
The full job description can be viewed here.
Erin Elementary School (EES) in Erin, TN, is a close-knit campus with roughly 350 students. EES seeks a reliable, engaged educational assistant. As a General Education Assistant at EES, you'll be a flexible, hands-on partner who adapts to whatever each school day requires. Whether guiding a small reading group, collecting behavior data, or helping a student access accommodations from an IEP or 504 Plan, you work with certified teachers to ensure every learner stays engaged and supported.
Your day may include supervising hall transitions, buses, cafeterias, playgrounds, and field trip settings to reinforce safety and positive behavior. You'll prepare learning materials, maintain accurate instructional records, utilize Chromebooks and Google Apps (e.g., Classroom, Docs, Slides), and operate standard office equipment. This is an active role: you may lift up to 30 pounds of materials or adaptive devices, stand or kneel beside students, and move quickly to redirect or de?escalate as needed. Success requires patience, effective and confidential communication with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams, as well as the ability to maintain the confidentiality of both students and colleagues in a small community.
It is the policy of the Houston County School System not to discriminate on the basis of sex, race, national origin, creed, age, religion, marital status, or disability in its educational programs, activities, or employment policies as required by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the 1972 Educational Amendments, and Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
