Being a Bilingual Client Advocate you will be responsible for providing culturally relevant services with a trauma-informed, evidence-based, client-centered, and healing-centered approach to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The Bilingual Client Advocate will provide case management services to clients participating in the Behavioral Health and Wellbeing program in all HAWC locations including Survivor Empowerment Hubs in strategically identified locations in the Houston community.

 

Your Schedule:

Monday-Friday

  • Three days per week 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
  • Two days per week 11:30 a.m.- 8:30 p.m.
  • Work Model: Hybrid

Local Travel: 50%

 

 

Our Total Compensation Package:

 

  • Hourly Compensation: $22.25
  • Pay schedule semi-monthly

Qualifications:

The Requirements We are Seeking:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, or Counseling or related field

Experience:

  • Entry level- no experience required.

Language:

  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish, able to fluently read, speak, and write in both languages.

Computer Skills:

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Computer savvy and able to learn new applications and systems quickly.
  • Strong data-entry skills.

Certificates & Licenses: Texas driver’s license with a safe driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation, if applicable

 

 

What you Deliver in this role:

 

  • You will assist clients in receiving services by telephone and in person.
  • You will conduct intake assessments for domestic and sexual violence survivors referred to the Behavioral Health and Well being Program that help assess the client's needs, gather relevant information about their cases, and provide crisis intervention.
  • You will enroll clients in individual/group counseling services with licensed counselors from the Behavioral Health and Wellbeing program.
  • You will contact and make referrals to other internal and external stakeholders for additional services.
  • You will maintain accurate records and appropriate documentation of services.
  • You will participate in training, supervision, and meetings.
  • You will work cooperatively with other staff to ensure optimal utilization of resources and efficient management of the program.
  • You will do mandatory Reporting: report suspected and prior abuse/neglect to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services when appropriate.
  • You will advocate at HAWC and other agencies on behalf of adults and children.
  • You will mobile advocacy is required to help break down barriers. This includes meeting the client in the community, at work, or other safe places and accompanying clients to appointments as needed.
  • Other duties/projects may be assigned.
