  • Track extension filing deadlines across partnership and corporate returns
  • Review draft tax returns for the entities overseen by Corporate Department

  • Oversee the cost certification audit process
  • Manage FHFC comment-response cycles: analyze comments, prepare responses, track resubmissions, and follow through to acceptance
  • Collaborate with Development and Construction departments to gather cost data, resolve allocation questions, and verify consistency with project budgets
  • Maintain organized electronic files for all tax returns, audits, and cost certifications in SharePoint

  • 5–10 years of progressive experience in tax compliance, financial audits, or a combination of public accounting and industry experience in real estate or affordable housing

  • Familiarity with FHFC cost certification processes (GCCC, DFCC) and Florida affordable-housing regulatory requirements is a significant plus
  • Experience coordinating with external audit firms on partnership audits
  • Exposure to HUD, Public Housing Authorities, or other affordable-housing compliance frameworks is helpful but not required

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Solid understanding of GAAP as applied to real estate partnerships, including developer fee recognition, equity accounting, and intercompany transactions
  • Ability to manage a high-volume, deadline-driven workload across 50 entities with competing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable corresponding directly with CPA firm partners, syndicator asset managers, and institutional lenders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to research technical tax or audit issues and develop practical solutions
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems (MRI, Yardi, or similar real estate platforms)
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting and regulatory submissions
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments (Development, Construction, Asset Management, Legal) and foster a productive team environment
