Summary/Objective

Perform general accounting tasks for Housing Assistance Corp and Asclepius Corporation as assigned by controller. Senior Staff Accountants support the Finance department and organization as a whole with special projects, benefits and payroll functions, and specific initiatives requiring advanced accounting work.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leased Housing Accounting

  • Monthly general ledger posting to Sage from reports produced in Tenmast
  • Post MRVP & CCSHP program receipts and rents paid into Sage
  • Cash management for all related bank accounts (Preparation and posting of daily deposits of LHS)
  • Working with Leased Housing department to produce twice monthly check runs
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Reconciliation of Due From/To accounts, GL accounts and bank accounts)
  • Maintaining Sec 8 escrow accounts
  • Monitoring Sec 8 balance sheet
  • Producing 1099's at calendar year end
  • Fiscal year end reconciliation of housing contracts for EOHLC and audit

  • AP Backup
  • AR Invoicing
  • VISA Management
  • Be familiar with and incorporate HAC’s Guiding Values into daily job responsibilities.
  • Support Company mission and culture
  • General office duties including maintaining detailed, efficient filing system
  • Accounting support functions

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Computer proficiency w/ spreadsheets & computerized accounting systems
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles
  • Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures
  • Ability to train others in related practices and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree accounting or related field preferred
  • 5 years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment

Physical requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Work Environment

  • The functions of this role are conducted in an office and team environment.

Hours of Work

  • This role is paid on salaried basis.
  • Typically, full-time salaried employees work 35 hours during a Monday through Friday work week. However, this is a salaried position. Therefore, the individual is expected to work as required to complete the duties of the position. This may mean hours beyond 35 per week are required.
