The Duluth Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA) has an opening for a full-time Accountant II. We are looking for a self-motivated person who is thorough, reliable, and has experience with professional accounting work including using independent judgement and recognized accounting principles to ensure the financial integrity of the assigned projects and programs; who is a problem solver that works well independently or in a team, and has strong customer service skills.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
- Routine accounting work involved in the establishment and documentation of general ledger accounts within the prescribed guidelines and time frames.
- Reviewing and reconciling subsidiary and control accounts and prepares journal entries as needed.
- Analyzing general ledger accounts and verifying accuracy with proper support documentation.
- Assisting with budget preparation, including research on expenses, projections, and gathering other required information.
- Assembling data and preparing financial reports.
- Coordinating financial procedures with the data processing systems.
- Final preparation and analysis of trial balances.
- Preparing work papers for year-end audit.
- Recommending improved procedures and methods in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
