What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver/Personal Assistant position at Household Employer - Wheaton, IL?
Seeking help for our daughter who is home due to disability. Monday to Friday some evenings (5-10pm), optional occasional overnight stays and relief for other caregivers. Occasional domestic travel possible with plenty of advance notice. She has a medical condition needing constant monitoring and occasional intervention. While you must be constantly vigilant, you may read, study, or engage in other quiet activities while working while maintaining focus.
Ideal job for a student, avid reader, etc. Must have excellent references. Must demonstrate patience and kindness. Must be neat, clean, and able to work with others. On-the-job training provided to ensure to ensure comfort with medical condition. All vaccinations are a required condition of employment. Please note that we pay legally via check with a full benefits package. We do not pay cash. Meals are provided daily.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care assistance to one individual
- Keep individual safe while walking. Monitor safety while sitting.
- No personal hygiene assistance required. Individual bathes, dresses, and grooms herself.
- Assist with basic meal preparation (no cooking) on occasion.
- Minor local travel to accompany individual to appointments, errands, and social activities. No driving required.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Assist with mobility using proper techniques.
- Monitor and report any changes in the individual's condition to family members.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred.
- Physically able to provide support while walking and lower an individual to a safe position when needed.
- Vigilant to monitor changes in individual's condition and keep them safe at all times.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to be prompt and on time to support individual's routine.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with individuals and their families.
- Updated vaccinations are a required condition of employment.
