This is a flexible, part-time independent contractor role with the potential to grow into a larger engagement over time. You’ll provide license oversight and technical guidance, and you can also take on billable repair and small project work if desired. We handle the marketing, scheduling, and billing—you focus on trade expertise, oversight, and customer experience.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the Qualifying Party (QP) on our Arizona ROC license (KB-1 / B or equivalent classification).
- Provide oversight and guidance on scopes of work, job planning, and compliance with ROC requirements and applicable codes.
- Be available for periodic consultation on more complex projects, estimates, and job reviews.
- Help define and maintain quality standards for our residential and light commercial work.
- Optionally perform hands-on field work (repairs, installations, small projects) as your time and interest allow.
- Collaborate with the owner when any license- or ROC-related issues arise.
Compensation
- Independent contractor (1099) arrangement.
- Compensation structure will reflect:
- Your ongoing oversight/QP responsibilities, and
- Any billable field work you choose to perform.
- Exact rates and structure will be discussed based on your experience, license status, and desired level of involvement, with room for growth over time as the business scales.
Who We’re Looking For
- Experienced licensed contractor with strong background in residential and/or light commercial building, remodeling, or repair.
- Someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, professionalism, and communication.
- Comfortable being the responsible party on the license and partnering closely with the business owner.
- Interested in a long-term relationship where your role and earnings can grow as the company grows.
- Current or prior Arizona ROC license at a general building / KB-1 / B level or equivalent qualifications to obtain that license.
- Not currently serving as Qualifying Party (QP) on another unrelated active AZ ROC license, or willing to:
- Transition off that license as QP, or
- Restructure in a way that complies with ROC requirements.
- Clean, professional history (no major unresolved ROC discipline).
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Reliable vehicle and tools appropriate for the level of field work you’d like to perform.
- Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for scheduling and communication (ServiceTitan or similar systems).
- 5 years of experience in residential building, remodeling, or handyman work.
- Prior experience supervising other techs or subs.
- Broad skills across carpentry, drywall, painting, light plumbing/electrical, and installations.
- Prior experience as a Qualifying Party / RME / responsible managing individual is a plus.
